I'm working through Linux From Scratch and I'm having problems with the tar utility. I'm at the point where I'm downloading packages; the first one is autoconf. It's listed on the web as a .tar.bz2 file, but when I download it, it magically becomes a .tar file. I then try to use the
tar -x command on it to extract, and linux just goes to the next line and does nothing forever (no error messages). This has happened with other files as well. What's going on?
