it is unfortunate that there is no way to control informational output
when using --newer=DATE. This produces lines of the format:
tar: ./b.bak: file is unchanged; not dumped
on stderr :( This means I can't use stderr to decide if an error has
occurred, or if I get a non-zero exit status, I can't just dump whatever
was written to stderr in a log, because my log files would explode.
There should be a flag to control this output.
