Thank you. In fact, tar worked as expected, but the echo command in
the `testsuite' script seems to have failed, as these lines indicate:

> -jeden
> -dwa
> +jeden\ndwa
>  trzy

(- mark expected lines, + marks the obtained ones). In this case, the
expected lines are completely wrong. The command used to produce them
is (see testsuite:2257):

echo "jeden\\ndwa
trzy
"

It seems that on your system it generates three lines, instead of the
expected two. Can you please verify that?
