Any chance you could give me an example of where you would suggest this change?

changing line 2050 of tests/testsuite to this:

truss tar cf archive directory 2>/var/tmp/truss.out

Did nothing more than echo this line into tests/testsuite.dir/002/testsuite.log when I ran 'gmake check' and didn't create any truss output anywhere I can find.
