I was experiencing some problems unpacking a tarball just because the file was packed in a 64bit machine and I was unpacking in a 32bit machine. The problem is that gnu tar always said
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
And one week and lots of Google searches later I've found that the architecture mismatch caused the problem.
Why it can't tell me that there is a possibility that the file was packed in a different architecture?
Thanks.
