Hello, I'd like to suggest an option which would be able to disable the calling of function create.c:write_eot after creating archives. If there were such an option, I would be able to extend compressed archives with the following commands: $ tar czvf - 1.txt 2.txt >test.tgz $ tar czvf - 3.txt 4.txt >>test.tgz Well, this does work, but I have to use option -i when calling 'tar t' or 'tar x', which is easy to forget (for example, if it is done by the Midnight Commander, not directly a human). Details are described here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/programming-9/append-files-to-compressed-tar-gz-archive-4175595504/ If you think this makes sense, I'd deliver the necessary [very simple] patches within a few days.
