Yes, texi2any and makeinfo are the same command.

Indeed, it is an improvement, but does not fix the issue, because of the
bug Torbjörn reported.  There is indeed a file with the two nodes
concatenated, but also a redirection file with the same name...

This issue of redirection files really needs fixing...
