I, too, am one of those people who have no problems with TMPGEnc. However,
the difference might lie in the fact that I encode the video and audio
separately and mux them together with bbMPEG (1.24b18). Thus I've never
had any problems with mpeg files with any version of vcdimager :)
(I don't know what doom9's guides say, nor do you mention what other
programs than TMPGEnc you use :)
