This is a known ugly problem in 1.16 https://bugs.debian.org/768110
which got fixed in 1.16.1 and later (latest is 1.16.3).
Debian jessie is frozen since some time (no new upstream releasesare
allowed) and that is the reason why the fixing version didn't moved into
Jessie.
Maybe I can get this fixed after the Jessie release in a point release.
