I have no idea what you mean by "making a serve", but "broken pipe" 
usually means that the engine you are using crashed, so that XBoard can 
no longer communicate with it.

If you want us to say something sensible about this, you should start 
XBoard with the extra option -debug, and mail us the xboard.debug file 
that will be created by this. From that file we could see what you have 
been doing, and where the problem lies.
