[Bug-zile] zile 2.3.0 crashes on startup

I've just built zile 2.3 from source and found it crashes on startup.

zile: Zile crashed.  Please send a bug report to <address@hidden>.
Trying to save modified buffers (if any)...

gdb shows:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. set_variable

My system is an up to date CentOS 5.2 system with kernel:
