Oh, I see what you mean now.  Right.  Yes, that would be nice!

Even so, I'm sure you'd explain to Hisham what it is and why it's important better than I would.  Not to mention, that my TODO list is already at least a year deep, so I'm reluctant to take this on as well.  Sorry :-/

I'm unlikely to be contributing much to either Zile or Lua build systems in the near future. I suggest that simply asking on the luarocks-dev mailing list (which you should be on, even if not actively reading) "how do I query luarocks for the variables LUA_INCDIR, LUA_BINDIR &c.? if not possible, please can you make it possible?" is good enough.

Sorry to pass the buck, I'm concentrating my reduced programming time on whipping some old Debian packages into shape for the present.
