I am sure this has something to do with "beanness". Part of every JavaBean
compliant class is a public zero-arg constructor.
Netbean's GUI editor makes use of this. Maybe the two buttons make the
JSplitPane more visible when you create it freshly and want to click somewhere
in order to change the left & right component.
