$ file ./config.sub
./config.sub: POSIX shell script, ASCII text executable, with CRLF line terminators

$ wc -l ./config.sub
1822 ./config.sub

Then you must be doing something wrong.  What does:

  $ file ./config.sub
  $ wc -l ./config.sub
