Okay...just for the splash page thing,
I removed the splash page and symlinked main.html to index.html.

For about less than 24 hours, you cannot access 
http://www.freesoftware.fsf.org/debian-sf/ because the savannah server
updates its symlink once a day.

If anyone needs to access the project homepage,
please go to http://www.freesoftware.fsf.org/debian-sf/main.html instead...

Reason for removing the splash? 
Those squares started to remind me of the Windows logo too! :-)
