No 1.8.5 is not needed. What you need to do is install the pkg-config
file. It is included in the denemo directory. It is called guile-1.8.pc.
Guile 1.8.5 includes this file already. If you have < 1.8.5 the
guile-1.8.pc needs to be installed wherever your system keeps its .pc
files.
