Hmm, I have just looked at the code and it does a whole pile of things other
than just queuing a re-draw.
I noticed in other places (e.g. at every key stroke initiated command IIRC)
it was being called with apparent casualness.
It would take some work to pare down the action of d-RefreshDisplay to what
is essential. But it may be sufficient just to examine the state of the stage
for undo, and make refresh display do nothing unless this is at zero.
I don't suggest we experiment with this before giving the current code a
thorough testing.
