"git help tag" can explain all this
-f stands for "force", it means this tag will replace existing ones if any, so we need it.
-s stands for "sign". If you want to sign your tag, you can.
-a is used to set the name of the tag

Thank you! I missed the commit the first time, but now I have it.
I have done

git checkout master

to get me back to normal.

(BTW The only obscure command was
git tag -s r1.1.0 -f
a quick look on the net didn't seem to cover the meaning of this line.)
