Yes, that is fine - I just didn't recognise that the "+" is usually
used for "stopped" - despite the fact that I use this myself
frequently!

This will be due to the new LilyPond version - can you send a example
score with just one empty bar and a title with such an accent, as I
would like to investigate this. Meanwhile you can install LilyPond 2.22
and use the command

Command: Change Preferences
Set and save your preferences for how Denemo operates on startup.
Advanced users can edit .denemo-XXXX/denemorc for missing ones
Location: Main Menu ▶ Edit
Internal Name: Preferences

to change the lilypond version you use via the Externals tab (or make
it the first or only version in your path).

Looking at the correct file that you attached later:

In that file if you open the object editor on a note with a trill on it
(one where the trill is not showing in the Display) and choose
"Advanced Edit" you will see that the Graphic field has this:

"
?
emmentaler"

That is a newline, a question mark the word emmentaler.

It should have this:

"

emmentaler"

where the correct (wide) character which looks like a curly brace in
the font used by my email client comes before the name of the font,
emmentaler.

I don't know of a way this could happen except by editing it in the
"Advanced" (low level) editor or by file corruption.
If you execute the trill command twice (to remove and re-instate the
tril) does the display become correct? If not it is the script that the
trill command is running that is corrupted - it will be possible to
look at that too...

This is not related to you having switched to the latest LilyPond,
however.
