I don't have personal experience, but a few google searches yielded that the max ISA-bus rate is 2 MBps and max PCI-bus rate is 5.5-6 MBps, using the newer parallel modes where the CPU is not really involved. You'll have to test though as some motherboards place the parallel port on the ISA-bus (most common) and some place it on the PCI bus, internal to the motherboard chipset.
