After downloading the rpm, it looks like they botched the build.  It's
only got the static version, not the .so

address@hidden fc2]$ rpm2cpio <python-devel-2.3.3-6.i386.rpm | cpio -itv | grep 
libpython
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root      1542206 May  7  2004 
./usr/lib/python2.3/config/libpython2.3.a

It's not in python-2.3.3-6.i386.rpm either.
