I obtained the 2.4 tarballs from http://comsec.com/wiki?GnuRadio2.X and
expanded the usrp-0.6.tar.gz. Then I did a ./configure, make and make

There is a new /usr/local/share/usrp/rev2 with five files:

I can unpower and repower the usrp and the LED blinks fast. Then I plug the
USB cable in and run the program ../host/apps/test_fusb.

The LED runs slower after a short while, but unfortunately test_fusb errors
out with the message "Can't find bitstream: usrp_fpga.rbf".

So, I know I'm doing something silly, as you said the .rbf file was included.
It just is my turn to be the newbie <sigh>.
