The USRP only needs 4.5V to operate, but most of the daughterboards have 5V linear regulators on them, so 5.75V is needed for optimal performance.(For the curious, I'm using a 12V-5V DC-DC converter, and a 6.5 Ahr lead-acid battery, with a West Mountain Radio RigRunner 4005 to distribute power to both the USRP and a Novatel GPS unit, all bolted into a Radio Flyer all-terrain wagon.)
