Perhaps one method to speed the process up is to cache RGBA renderings. For
example in this sentence alone there are several "e"s and they are all the same
anti-aliased images. The menus, title bars, etc. use the same font and would
likely be cached. Even web pages typically only have 6 sizes two fonts and
three styles, and I think that's typical of most documents.
BTW does GNUstep have an app which displays RTF documents yet?
