I haven't installed the pathc yet but I do confirm that I had also
noticed the problem with transparent backgrounds in icons. It is very
visible in the GWorkspace application for instance.

PS: To Nicola -> no problem for sending me the wrong diagnostic to the
PNG icon problem :-)
