Right now there is an odd bug in Darwin GCC that causes the compiler to apparently output Altivec instructions for some GCC __builtin functions even on machines that don't have AltivecDo I know about this one already? I thought we'd eliminated all the accidental appearances of AltiVec instructions a while ago.
It was entered in the Darwin bug database (not sure what the real name of that is) by LHelldorf@kabel.de. He also sent some mails to the darwin developer list about it. The actual error messages are something like:
/var/tmp/ccspbaaa.s:1753:vector instruction is optional for the PowerPC (not allowed without -force_cpusubtype_ALL option) when the file includes __builtin_apply, etc. -- Adam Fedor, Digital Optics | Fudd's law of opposition: Push fedor@doc.com http://www.doc.com | something hard enough, and it fedor@gnu.org http://www.gnustep.org | will fall over.
