Weird problem after sourcing GNUstep.sh

Weird problem after sourcing GNUstep.sh.  Prior to sourcing it works fine. :/

[heron@genoa make]$ . /usr/GNUstep/System/Makefiles/GNUstep.sh 
[heron@genoa make]$ ls
ls: invalid option --  
Try `ls --help' for more information.
[heron@genoa make]$

Here's the set of aliases I have for ls and the like...

alias l='ls -alF'
alias la='ls -la'
alias ll='ls -l'
alias ls='ls $LS_OPTIONS'
alias ls-l='ls -l'

Frustrated groan....
