Hi,
After weeks of development, I'm glad to announce the release
of GNUMail.app 1.0.1.
GNUMail.app is a free, fully-featured mail application distributed
under the GPLv2. GNUMail.app works well under both
GNUstep (http://www.gnustep.org) and Apple Mac OS X.
Here's a list of what has changed since the last release of
GNUMail.app:
o the size of the folder and the number of messages/unread messages
are now shown in the Mailbox Manager;
o you can now define more than one account per server for POP3 or IMAP;
o you can now define a different signature for each personal profile
you have;
o you can now search in the content of messages;
o drag and drop support to copy/move messages between folders;
o cut, copy, and paste support to copy/move messages between folders
and to manipulate addresses in the Address Book;
o lots of new icons, to make the UI much more appealing;
o it's now possible to automatically verify for new messages for
specified POP3 accounts when GNUMail.app launches;
o it's now possible to specify filters for outgoing mails and also
apply filters directly to a messages selection;
o it's now possible to define outgoing filters (for messages being
sent);
o added tab-completion for addresses defined in the Address Book
when composing a new message;
o it's now possible to specify which charset you want to use when
sending a message (if you don't want to use the 'detected' one) and
it's now possible to force one to be used when viewing a mail;
o added a "Welcome" message that is shown to new users when GNUMail.app
is first started;
o modified the colors used for filters so that they are way less abrasive
for your eyes;
o the columns's size for the Mail Window and Mailbox Manager
tableview/outlineview are now saved and restored when GNUMail.app
is started. The same thing has been done for all "windows" of the
application;
o refactored a lot of code, fixed bugs, improved the performance
and the stability of the application;
o and way more!
You can see a screenshot of GNUMail.app under GNUstep here:

and under Apple Mac OS X here:

In order to compile GNUMail.app, you need to get and install
Pantomime first. You can get it here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/pantomime
You can get GNUMail.app 1.0.1 sources and the binary version
(including Pantomime) for Apple Mac OS X here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/gnumail
If you want to compile yourself GNUMail.app, see the docs/README file.
It explains in details how to compile it under GNUstep and Apple Mac OS X.
This released has been tested on Apple Mac OS X 10.1.3/10.1.4 and
also GNUstep make 1.3.0, base 1.3.0, gui 0.7.6 and xgps 0.7.6. There are
some small issues with GNUstep that are now solved in the CVS version of
GNUstep (and will be included in the next release of GNUstep, of course).
Here's a list of what needs to be improved for the next release:
o PGP/GPG support. I've been saying this for months now. A skeleton
of the bundle was added but it needs to be finished;
o "Do .." action in Filtering bundle;
o Messages threading;
o Possibility of reusing the same MailWindow when opening
a new mailbox;
o New features and more optimizations.
I would like to thank the following people who helped me getting
this release done by sending me bug fixes, patches and more:
Dale Amon, Martin Brecher, Rob Burns, Erik Dalen, Adam Fedor, Ian Jones,
Matthias Klose, Nicola Pero, Quique, Vincent Ricard, Pierre-Yves Rivaille,
Nicolas Roard, Georges Tarbouriech, Fabien Vallon, Chris B. Vetter
and especially Francis Lachapelle.
Again, comments, feature requests, suggestions or patches are always
very welcomed!
Thanks a lot,
Ludovic
