Hi,
After weeks of development, I'm glad to announce the
release of GNUMail.app v1.0.2.
GNUMail.app is a free, fully-featured mail application distributed
under the GPLv2. GNUMail.app works well under both
GNUstep (http://www.gnustep.org) and Apple Mac OS X.
Here's a list of what has changed since the last release (see the
ChangeLog file for more details):
o Brand new filtering panel. You can now specify multiple
criterias and also use an external program to pre-preprocess
the mails. It can be now, for example, used with SpamAssassin
to filter all the spam you get;
o Rewritten entirely the Fonts Preferences panel. It now works
well under OS X;
o You can now show/hide read messages;
o You can now have your default Inbox/Outbox/Trash/Drafts folder
on an IMAP server. Also added a new Mailboxes Preferences panel
to ease the selection of those default folders;
o Added an console window (so you can follow what GNUMail.app is
doing);
o Some new icons have been added;
o You can now stop the following operations: bounce a message,
send a new message or receive mails from POP3 accounts;
o Added a LDIF import filter for the Address Book;
o It is now possible to retreive mail from a selected account
from the Get New Mail menu;
o Lots of bugs have been fixed and the overall performance
of the application has been greatly improved.
You can see a screenshot of GNUMail.app under GNUstep here:

and under Apple Mac OS X here:

In order to compile GNUMail.app, you need to get and install
Pantomime first. You can get it here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/pantomime
You can get GNUMail.app 1.0.2 sources and the binary version
(including Pantomime) for Apple Mac OS X here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/gnumail
If you want to compile yourself GNUMail.app, see the docs/README file.
It explains in details how to compile it under GNUstep and Apple Mac OS X.
This release has been tested under Apple Mac OS X 10.1.4 and
GNUstep (base/make 1.3.2 and gui/back 0.7.7).
Some important notes when you upgrade to GNUMail.app 1.0.2:
o If you defined filters with mailboxes as target, you have
to just re-edit your filters and specify again the
target mailboxes;
o If you use 1.0.2, you can't go back to 1.0.1 unless you remove
your previous preferences values.
I also added a FAQ on how to use SpamAssassin with GNUMail.app and also
on how to use SSL in GNUMail.app/Pantomime.
I would like to thank Rob Burns, Vincent Ricard, Pierre-Yves Rivaille,
Georges Tarbouriech, Chris B. Vetter and particularly Francis Lachapelle
and Ujwal S. Sathyam who helped me getting this release done.
Comments, feature requests, patches are always welcomed. If you want
to help, you can look at the docs/TODO file to find out what needs
to be done for this project.
Thanks a lot,
Ludovic
