...and can be set by an app at runtime ? I would have said
the best behaviour would be for this to be decided at runtime
by the App - so that people can set the default to be OSX
compatibility and thus break existing apps.
(180 degree turnaroiund in viewpoint here as I was arguing for ifdefs\at
lunchtime I know ;-) )
