TextEdit != Edit. OPENSTEP 4.2 has both Edit and TextEdit.

Edit is a very old NeXTStep program, that uses the old appkit library and
the old Text class. It runs on OPENSTEP, of course, because the newer OS
is binary-compatible with NeXTStep.

TextEdit was an OpenStep program included with OPENSTEP 4.0, and using the
new text classes. It can't do as much as Edit could (like structure
folding and hyperlinks), but because it uses NSText*, it works better with
non-NeXT machines/keyboards. IBM-style keyboards have more keys, like the
editing keys. NeXT keyboards didn't have them so when you pressed the Home
key in Edit -- or any other NeXTStep app -- you get an odd character
instead of insertion pointer movement.
