Or, since GWorkspace is indeed a special case, simply change the quit command from Cmd-q to Cmd-Q (Cmd-Shift-q)

Actually, Enrico put this in on request by me (or at least after I requested it). I have GWorkspace controlling my session and kept being thrown out by hitting Cmd-q while the wrong app was active :-)

Maybe it'd be possible to check if GWorkspace was a child of some window manager or directly of the display manager, and display the panel in dependency on that.
