if you are using linux, try mount it as ufs with options
ufstype=nextstep or nextstep-cd or openstep. Try something like:
mount -t ufs -o ufstype=nextstep-cd /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
Play with it a bit, try to tune the -o options.
