I do not know if you *ever* needed to install a different gcc on apple than the
one that comes from Apple.
Just install the Additions package and use Renaissance and it should work.
The only not so nice thing is that you have to set some GNUstep env vars before
running applications.
But you are right, we should have a easy installer for Mac OS X. Intel support
will end up with adding a
compiler switch like on the NeXT for most clean sources.
