I think this citations says it all:
"ReactOS is an effort to create a Free Software replacement for
Microsoft Windows(TM) that is compatible with existing hardware and
software!"
- there are 100 times as much people who use Microsoft than Linux/X11
- Windows is not Free Software
- it is 100% compatible
=> they produce a Free (Speech) substitute. That is something people
like to have and support.
To get the same marketing effect, I think we whould have to define a
"foe" whom we want to replace and which users are happy to find
someone to help them.
What does GNUstep substitute that is not "Free"? Cocoa? Windows? GTK?
