It would be more intuitive if you hadn't to remember such details. In  
your present case you removed software right after installing it.  
Would you remember your settings in a year or two?

While I, as a non-commiter, probably should shut up entirely, I  
appreciate you uncover and discuss that many issues. IMHO, this is  
what GNUstep currently needs.
