I know it's been a while since I last replied to this, but I just got the chance to rebuild everything (chaotic past couple of weeks).  Gridlock no longer crashes.

OK, I'll give that a shot!  Chances are I won't be able to get to it until next weekend (same goes to that miniaturizing bug report I put it yesterday).
