Since you seem to be using a backend that relies on freetype for font
rendering, GNUstep will try to use one of your system's fonts. You
should be able to get a list of installed font's by running "fc-list"
and pick a sensible one by executing "defaults write NSGlobalDomain
NSFont '$FONT_NAME'".
