I intended no offense with my comment, I was just making the point that, for a project, sometimes "dead" is basically equivalent to "complete and sufficient." I think WindowMaker development stalled because it wasn't really obvious that there was anything more to be done with it. As far as I am concerned, it is complete and sufficient for my needs. I can't think of a single thing that I would want changed. The guys that wrote it can be very proud of the accomplishment -- it is a great piece of software.
I was vaguely aware of your name from the icon licensing in the WindowMaker README file (WTFPL, LOL! ;-D), but not aware that you were a core developer of it. If so, then, "Thank You", too. Probably the only piece of software I have used more consistently and constantly has been EMACS.
