slowness while dragging icons in gworkspace

HI,

I don't know if it is due to recent changes by Eric, but dragging icons 
around on the workspace (on any window, but especially true with desktop 
shown) is slow. When using a remote desktop, one can literally see a 
"trail" of empty white spaces that gets redrawn out of the old part of 
the icon and they are "drawn" very slowly, like line by line.
I can't take a screenshot, but I am pretty sure this used not to be.
