There has been some discussion about using a menu server via DBUS to allow such menus to be displayed natively. No work has been done along those lines to date, though.

This might be something interesting to explore if you're interested in Mac style menus which blend with the environment.

For menu styles, try these:
NSNextStepInterfaceStyle, NSWindows95InterfaceStyle, NSMacintoshInterfaceStyle.

Note that Macintosh interface style will almost certainly conflict with other environments that use top of the screen, such as Ubuntu Unity.
