Because they wanted to get a paper into ASPLOS ;-)
Their approach would make more sense if the problem is running legacy-UNIX code
on some new OS (e.g. if HP wanted to move HP-UX or Tru64 customers to something
BSD or Linux-based), but that isn't as sexy as running iOS apps on Android (and
doesn't produce nearly as nice screenshots).
