I thought that GPL as opposed to LGPL was only used for the program/utilities
(e.g. gpbs, gdomap), and that the Libraries were still on LGPL (v2.1)?
If so, then what has actually changed in the programs since they were
changed to GPLv3? If nothing, it would be trivial to switch back.
