wiki is a known platform for contributors spanning well over the
"developer" area and the idea of the Wiki would be that everybody can
contribute, including users, designers, etc, not just developers.
I think I am missing the point.
Is mediawiki markup language somehow more convenient than markdown?
Is git a problem? Various Git-based hosts have web UIs for editing files directly.
What is the advantage of keeping important content in a semi-opaque MySQL database?
