If your spec says how to resolve your scheme, I think it's possible to
use alternatives.

RLS are just a way to specify the location and 'options' of a specific
DotGNU service. How these are transfered to the server, by using SOAP,
XML-RPC, whatever (most people seem to favour SOAP) isn't clear yet
(at least to me;) ).
