While it is true that currently there's not a lot going on in DotGNU
with other bytecode systems, I certainly don't want to agree with the
view of IL as "a standard to which all other languages/bytecodes are
subordinate."  DotGNU needs to support IL for reasons of compatibility
(in order to achieve the goal of providing a reasonably easy, low-risk
migration path from MS .NET to Free Software) but we certainly want to
support multiple bytecode systems, in particular also JVM and Parrot.
Both the compiler system, cscc, and the dgee webservice server have
been designed with this goal in mind.

Alas, there's currently no-one working on integrating JVM and Parrot
support into DotGNU.  This should probably be part of a weekly
"Volunteers needed" mailing list posting.
