Sorry for the long delay.

Can you try to bootstrap using one common place for the cross-compiler
and root-system?, meanwhile I check your logs -- let's say the default
in one partition:

/tmp/bootstrap/compiler
/tmp/bootstrap/root

Here are my logs for stage 0 and stage 1 building from scratch. The 
builds resulted in a chroot that was unable to build executables 
(/tools/bin/ld wouldn't statically link anything correctly).
