Could you check to see if a ~/.duply-cache/cccc..cc exists with 2 entries inside?  Since you specified the archive-dir in both runs, they should have been in /var/.duply-cache/cccc..cc.  I'm wondering if it somehow reverted to using the default cache location.

yes

no, /var/.duply-cache/cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc (the run without —name) is empty, while /var/.duply-cache/duply_zzz_local (with —name) contains:
