--- Begin Message ---Subject: client/server sockets belong in XDG_RUNTIME_DIR Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2018 23:13:14 -0800 Thanks for filing that bug report. I installed into master the attached patch, which should fix the bug, and am closing the report. User-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/60.2.1 Stefan mentioned the problem of an old emacsclient attempting to contact a new Emacs or vice versa. Rather than try to automate that, which would be an error-prone process, we can just suggest to people to use the appropriate socket name settings.0001-emacsclient-prefer-XDG_RUNTIME_DIR-Bug-33367.patch
