Would it be possible to include the function `project-known-project-roots' in
the project.el public API, as documented in the commentary of the file
`project.el'?
The use case is for packages like dashboard (github.com/emacs-dashboard), which
present a list of recent projects for the user to act on. Currently, dashboard
uses projectile for this; I submitted a patch that lets the user switch to
project.el that uses `project-known-project-roots' for the implementation.

Sure. Since it doesn't have '--' in its name, it basically public
already, but I made sure to clarify that now in 281da12e43f.
